Fifteen Years Later...

Yesterday marked fifteen years since our Jared went to heaven. It is hard to believe it has been that long but it has. Sometimes we wonder how life would have been if Jared had stayed with us. But we don't spend much time dwelling on it. God had a plan for Jared and we know that.

William, Adam and I had a normal day yesterday. We went to work. We did all the things we normally do and we remembered. We thought about Jared. We thought about his life and his death. Good times and hard times. But those are our memories and we cherish them because we cherish him. God had a plan for Jared and we know that.

William and I went to the cemetery. We called Adam and had our family time together. Tears still come when we talk about certain things but not for long. We wipe our eyes knowing that all is well. God had a plan for Jared and we know that.

There were so many that supported our family during Jared's illness and after his death. Our family and friends rallied around us and showed us love and comforted us. They still do.

This scripture comes to mind when I think of that...

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort." 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

So we are thankful... Thankful for those that have helped us walk through difficult times and loved us. Thankful that we had Jared with us for many years and will see him again someday. Thank you, Jesus! And thankful for God's comfort that He gives to us and sends through the hands and hearts of so many. May we also do the same for others.

So we remember and are thankful. God had a plan for Jared and we know that.
