Day 6
Today began with the usual coming and going. Overall, Jared slept well. He woke up a few times but went right back to sleep. Dr. Shipp came by and said that Jared’s chemo would be stopped for five days to give him time to heal from shingles. Jared was sad at first but decided that God must want to give him more time for rest. We spent the morning getting checked by doctors and nurses, taking meds and watching TV. I put on a gown and gloves every time I left the room. I sent and received emails and talked on the phone. William called and then went to bed for a nap. (He did inventory last night.)
Jared fell asleep for a while this afternoon. I went and took a shower. I also went to the van and got Jared’s boom box and school suitcase. Jared and I spent the afternoon reading (me) and watching TV.
William and Adam arrived around 7:30. They were coming for a weekend visit. Tom and Dess had called earlier, along with Rhonda. Jared’s old friend, Corey, fromJacksonville also called and talked with Jared. He enjoyed that. We spent the evening talking, etc. William helped Jared with his bath and the nurse helped change his dressing. I made Jared's bed while he was in the tub. Later, Adam and I went downstairs and then they left for the night.
*Today seemed a little easier with the routine. I think the fact that Jared was getting a break from chemo calmed both of us. Jared seems more settled. Lord, have your way. Help me to serve Jared, to help him through this. Help me to be patient with William and Adam. Lord, it is my heart’s desire for our whole family to serve you. I pray for that day. Forgive me for my sin, for my lack of self control. Help me to be more like you. I praise you, Lord. I pray for your will. In Jesus name. Amen.
I am to hold on to Jesus.
