Last night Jared was a little more restless. He got up around 9:00 p.m. to take his last shower. He was not happy about that and tried to talk me out of it. He finally gave in and we finished shower number three. He settled down for the night and I went out to the kitchen area to get something.
Angela was out there and asked if I wanted to order dinner and have it delivered. I was a little hungry so I ordered cheese sticks. I checked on Jared and he was almost asleep. I got my bed ready and then went out to wait for the food. It arrived and we sat at the nurse's station to eat. Angela and I talked about when our boys were diagnosed and how their tumors were found. Larry had a lot harder road than Jared. After eating, we said good night. It was around 12:00.
I settled down for the night. The IV pump alarm started ringing because of meds Jared was given. That finally stopped and we fell asleep. We got up a few time during the night when the nurse came in.
We started the day around 7:45. Dr. Shipp came in to check on Jared. He is starting to spit up mucus. I went down to the restroom and changed for the day. It is now 9:00 and we are watching TV.
* Lord, I pray that the mucus will be minimal and only a nuisance and not some painful event for Jared. Lord, protect him. I actually pray that this mucus will dry up. Watch over Jared, Lord, and keep him safe. Lord, please give Adam and William a good day. Keep them safe and draw them to you. In Jesus Name. Amen.
It is now 8:40 p.m. Jared had his first shower at 10:00 this morning. We did the dressing change and he napped. I read and watched TV. I went downstairs around 2:00 and picked up a hot dog. Kimberly came in and tried to get Jared to walk laps. He finally succumbed around 4:30 and walked two laps. He was given potassium and magnesium today so he had to be hooked up to the monitor for a while.
The day progressed. I started feeling down because I know we are going to be here a while. I'm holding on to the fact that God told me we would get through this, that He will be our strength. Jared took his next shower around 5:00. He didn't want to but knew he had to. I made his bed and then changed his dressing. He watched a little TV and then started throwing up and having diarrhea. (In future writings, I'm going to use the letter D instead of the word. Just being real.) There was mucus in both. He was exhausted after that so he has been resting since. I called and talked to William and then Tom and Dess. We received quite a few cards in the mail and a CD with pictures that Tom scanned for Jared. I will probably hang the cards on the wall tomorrow.
* Lord, I'm feeling a little apprehensive about what is ahead. I pray, Lord, that you'll enable me to do what I need to. I thank you for the peace I have knowing that Jared is in your hands. Give the doctors wisdom and protect Jared. I pray this mucositis will pass quickly. I pray that Jared's transplant will go smoothly. I pray that you'll touch and strengthen him. Help me to not be selfish but to help, strengthen and encourage Jared. I pray for all the kids up here. Protect them all. Bless them and their families. Have your way, Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.
It is now 11:30. Jared is asleep after finishing his shower and medicine. He is hopefully settled for the night. I watched TV tonight and talked with Mark. I'm about to go to sleep. Lord, I thank you that I can trust in You!
