We had a good night. I slept hard. Jared woke up one time and went to the restroom without me even knowing it. We did wake up a few times because Jared's tummy was bothering him. We got up for the day around 7:00. Jared's mouth was sore so he was given morphine again. He started throwing up soon after. The nurse, Merle, gave him something for nausea.
I tried to go take a shower but Jared needed another restroom break and these things take time. I finally walked down around 8:45 having given up on a shower but still wanting to change and get ready for the day. Someone was in the family bathroom. I came real close to crying but didn't. I went back to the room. Rhonda called to tell us that Doug's dad was sick and hospice had been called in. I'm thankful that Doug has you, Lord.
It is now 9:35. Jared is premedicated and ready for his transplant. I finally put on a little makeup. We are waiting.
* Lord, please protect Jared. I pray that this will go well. I pray for Jared's mouth that he'll get through this with the least amount of discomfort and pain. I thank you that he's in your hands. Keep him safe. In Jesus name.
It is now 6:40 in the evening. What a day. The transplant started at 9:45 this morning. Jared's stem cell flow was pretty slow so... (FYI. Jared received his own stem cells that were harvested in November of 2001. To harvest the stem cells, he was put on a machine that removed blood from his body, separated the stem cells and then returned the blood back to his body. When finished the stem cells looked like blood. They were then frozen for Jared to use down the road if needed. This was done before Jared had radiation so his stem cells would not be damaged.)

Transplant Day - Jared with his transplant monkey |
Later in the afternoon, I helped Jared with a sponge bath and then changed his dressing. We watched TV. I talked with Rhonda for a while as well as Tom, Dess and William.
Angela and I decided to call and order dinner. When the food arrived, Jared didn't want to be by himself so I tried to eat in the room. Jared was nauseated by the food smell so I went to the nurse's station to eat quickly. Kathy, the nurse, volunteered to sit with Jared . He called and talked with Adam while I was out. Angela and I ate our dinner and then we went back to our rooms. I'm about to go to sleep.
*Lord, please protect Jared. Help all the kids up here. Help them to heal quickly so they can go home. I thank you, Lord, for the many blessings you've bestowed on us. Have your way in our lives. Thank you for a good transplant day. In Jesus name. Amen.

Hello everyone! Jared's transplant is over. Now the waiting begins. They are telling me that it usually take 14-21 days before the stem cells are ingrafted. Jared is doing okay. He was sick a little earlier and has slept most of the afternoon. We have now been in this room for two weeks. Over all, it is comfortable but there is no place like home.
Have a great evening!

Lisa and Jared,
I'm so glad that you have made it over yet another mountain and can relax for a while. I hope you both get some good and probably well needed rest, and that the waiting will be on the shorter end rather than the longer one. We're still remembering you and loving you all. Again, let me know if there are specific prayers you need lifted up. Hugs to Jared!

Dear Lisa,
So glad this event is behind Jared and you. Our prayer is that God will speed up the process and all reports will reveal that the transplant is a great success. And that Jared will grow stronger each day. Your family has been through so much. May you soon be able to go home.
