Day 19
Today began around 8:00. Jared had a restless night. He got up several times with D. Merle, the nurse, came in and gave him the usual meds and he soon fell asleep. She gave him morphine to help ease the pain in his mouth. He threw up this morning when he got up to use the restroom.
I went and took my shower around 10:00. Merle came in and gave Jared magnesium. His white blood cell count is at 190 today. (A count below 3500 is considered low.) Jared does not feel his best.

William and Adam both called. Kathy, the social worker, came by and invited me to join the other parents for lunch. After helping Jared get settled, I went downstairs. None of the other parents were there so I visited with Kathy and Cathy, the nurse practitioner. It was nice to sit and talk for a few minutes. When I came back to the room, Jared had gone to the restroom. I helped him and then asked Merle to give Jared more morphine. He is now asleep.
Rhonda just called. Their family is leaving tomorrow to visit Doug's dad. My mom also called today. She is having trouble with her back.
*Lord, I pray that you'll touch her and that she'll be healed. Give her doctor wisdom tomorrow. Watch over her. Lord, please touch Jared. Help him to recover quickly from these sores, etc. Have your way in his life. In Jesus name. Amen.
Jared woke up around 5:00 to use the restroom. He went back to sleep so I went to the restroom. While I was out, I saw Angela so I talked with her for a few minutes and then came back to the room. When I walked in, there was a big puddle on the floor. Jared had an accident on the way to the restroom. I felt bad that I was gone when he needed me. I called the nurse and she helped clean the floor while I helped Jared with a shower. We changed his dressing and did his mouthcare and meds. He asked for more morphine and is now asleep. I played on the computer and watched the Alabama basketball game.
I'm feeling discouraged. It's hard to see Jared in the shape he's in. I had so hoped that he would sail through all of this. His skin is almost raw under his arms. He's had D for a while now. His mouth and throat hurt. Lord, help... Help me to help Jared. Give us both strength to do this. Help me to only speak life. Help me to trust you. Help me to make it. Lord, I give you Jared. I take my hands off. I ask forgiveness for presuming too much. I pray for your will in his life. In Jesus name. Amen.

The Horrible Thing
I was ten years old when my dog was terribly hurt. I did not know he was hurt because I was at my friend Jake's house. My family and I bought our dog when he was two years old. He is a chocolate colored miniature pincher. My dog's name is Rudy.
The thing that hurt my dog was a low rider truck. It was white and had a plastic covering over the front. Rudy had gotten out of our back yard. When I heard that he was gone, I went to look for him with my mom and brother. We did not know that he had been ran over.
When we could not find him, we called my friend Bobby to see if he could help look for him. He said he could and came down to our house. When he got there, he said that a boy down the street saw our dog get hit by the truck. We were sad but we kept looking.
My friend, Bobby, said that he saw some bushes move over by Highway 90. We walked over there and looked. Rudy was laying on the ground whimpering. His eye was swollen and the bottoms of his legs were cut. Bobby picked him up and took him inside the house.
My mom brought him some water and food. He did not want to eat so we let him go outside. The grass was real high and scratched against the cuts on his legs. He ran inside and my mom held him for the rest of the day.
About two days later, he was better and just like normal. Rudy has never been hurt again. I will always remember the day he was hurt.
