March 7, 2002 (Thursday)

Day 12

We slept well last night.  Jared went to the restroom a few times but was able to go right back to sleep. We got up around 8:00 for the day.  Chemo started at 10:30.  Dr. Shipp came by to check on our progress.  Jared did not get sick today.  He was given meds for nausea before chemo and that seemed to help. 

We had a quiet afternoon. The child life specialist came by to visit for a while. Mrs. Rhonda came to have class but Jared did not feel like it. I worked on some of the language to make it easier for him. 

Larry is back on the floor.  His mom said they could leave the hospital once his appetite returns.  Daniel next door will go to the Hope Lodge tomorrow.  I'm happy that they are doing so well. 

We did baths around 5:30.  Jared didn't want to but we talked him into it.  We changed Jared's dressing again, walked laps and then watched TV.  Tom and Dess called and then we talked with Adam and William.  It is now 11:00.  Jared finished his first chemo today (carbo).  The harder chemo starts tomorrow.

*Lord, please protect Jared.  I pray for a good day tomorrow.  Have your way, Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Jared and Lisa:
Just a note to say a big hello (again) and let you know how much it means to be able to talk with  you both.  You sound really good -- just keep up the tone and we will ALL get through this!  Jared, we are so proud of you and the strength you have shown in tolerating all that you have been through. We are also proud of your mother because she has been right by your side.  All the same, we look forward to the day when this is ALL finished and you and your mom can be HOME and NORMAL again! (But we don't wish this any more than  your entire household!!!)  Hope you both rest/sleep well tonight and the day goes well tomorrow. We love you both so much.

Hi.

How's everything going?
Shingles retreated enought to start treatment again?

You must be going nuts with the waiting!  I guess one of the reasons we pray for strength and Patience (that's with a capital "P").

Thought I'd let you know we're thinking about you (always). Wish you could be doing normal things like going camping with us. Hopefully one day soon!
